Young Shakespeare Players - Twelfth Night
April 20 - 23, 2006, 6:00 PM - FREE
1806 West Lawn Ave., Madison 268-0182
http://www.madstage.com/Companies/YoungShake.html

Parents and friends of the Young Shakespeare Players doing their first full length production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. One of Shakespeare's great comedies. Come, laugh, be entertained. "Are all the people mad?"

The Young Shakespeare Program, a theater organization in which young actors perform full length works of Shakespeare, proving that young people are capable of far more than society usually expects. The participants range from 7 to 18 years old. There are no "auditions." Any child of approximately the right age may take part simply by registering. Every young participant receives a speaking role.

The children themselves help select the cast for each production by voting during the rehearsals. The program is designed to show its young participants (and their families and the community) that the plays of William Shakespeare are not "dull" or "above" them - but are delightful, accessible and fun. The children perform in Shakespeare's words - and quickly learn to appreciate the poetic beauty, as well as the drama, of what Shakespeare wrote.

Produced by Young Shakespeare Players at 1806 West Lawn Ave., Madison. Tickets are Free. Refreshments are available for purchase.  Call 608 268 0182 for reservations or more information.

Duck Soup Cinema
Overture Center, 201 State St 258-4177
Saturday, April 22, 2006 Evening event is sold out, but tickets are available for matinee Performance- vaudeville at 2:00 PM, film at 3:00 PM
http://www.overturecenter.com/ducksoup.htm

Duck Soup Cinema is Overture's silent film series. Three times this season we will present a classic silent movie accompanied by live music played on the Grand Barton Organ, and preceded by vaudeville style entertainment on stage, magic in the lobby, and fabulous door prizes, all hosted by emcee Joe Thompson. This season, we are featuring comedies, so come and laugh with the greats of the silver screen. All shows will take place in the newly remodeled Capitol Theater. Tickets are $4 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under. All seats are general admission.  This performance is reserved seating.

Ice skating, pie fights and sea-sickness all provide fodder for the remarkable Charlie Chaplin in the festival of silent-film comedy. Four Chaplin short films are on the menu, including The Rink in which his food-service skills are only surpassed by his moves on the ice, leading to a hilarious high-speed escape at the end of the film. Behind the Scenes pokes fun at the fictional Gigantic Picture Studios, while East Street flips expectations as the Little Tramp steps into the role of a police officer. In The Immigrant, romance is rekindled between two recent immigrants to the United States.

Vaudeville acts may include Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble, Truly Remarkable Loon and others to be announced!

Creative workshops for children ages 2-5 and their caregiver(s).

Some days it seems that all you can get your child to eat is hot dogs and scrambled eggs. That leaves you constantly fretting over whether or not your child is getting enough nutrients. Eating does not have to be a mundane daily requirement. It can be fun for you and your child. Happy Bambino is now offering three workshops by Da Vinci's Playhouse that explore the endless possibilities of making eating a creative and artistic activity. Parents and children alike will also learn how our five senses play a key role in the eating experience.

Saturday, April 15th Sweet Aroma: Smell plays a key role in how we perceive food and even how we taste it! Children and parents will both be entertained by a story and music to illustrate the concept of smell. Activities include guessing the mystery smells and building your own scent box to sweeten up any room!
